The mind/body/spirite Paradigm/Unit 4

Hello Everyone,

The loving-kindness meditation was extremely difficult to follow because of the tone in the people that were guiding the meditation, also it sounded like they were reading off the book as they were guiding, that made it extremely difficult to follow and concentrate during the meditation, and I was ready to relax!  So I would definitely not recommend this specific meditation to others because of what I previously mentioned but I would be willing to do it again maybe with other voices guiding me.

According to Dacher (2006) “mental workout” means utilizing contemplative practices such as “loving-kindness” and “subtle mind” to help calm the mind’s constant mental activities and train it along with opening one’s heart and expanding consciousness, and progressing towards psychospirtual flourishing.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Mind-Body Connection/3

Hello Everyone,

I find it a bit difficult to rate myself at this time in these four areas of physical, spiritual and psychological well being because at this moment in time I am going through so many transitions in my personal life, but I will be completely honest.  In the physical well-being I will have to rate this at a 5 because due to the excess stress that I am going through my body is showing signs of imbalance.  On the spiritual well-being I will have to rate this a bit higher at a 7 because it is my faith that is pulling me through.  On the psychological well-being I would also have to rate this one low at a 7 because the imbalance in the present moment in my life has had some effect on the psychological part causing anxiety and nervousness.

My goal for all these areas is simple a well developed balanced for all three, where I can rate them all to at least an 9, big time goal would be 10 but I would settle for a 9 now.

There are three things that I will be implementing to increase wellness in areas mentioned.  The first one is walking, walking and walking that will help the three, no doubt.  Meditation will boost my spiritual well-being as well as prayer, and as a consequence of practicing the exercise and meditation and prayer, the psychological well-being will greatly improve reducing stress and negative thinking.

I found the meditation to be very beneficial to me; it gave me a moment to breathe normally placing all anxiety aside.  Using the imagination of all the colors projecting from the different body regions left me a sense of tranquility, and repeating the phrases was a great touch to the meditation.

Welcome to my Blog!

I am looking forward to interacting and learning from each one of you in this journey to Human Flourishing!

Journey On relaxation exercise

I truly enjoyed the meditation experience.  Although I will confess I struggled at the beginning to relax, so many thoughts crossed my mind that made it difficult to reach a state of relaxation, I think I started the meditation a couple of times before I could really get to do it.  It was worth it, I did learn that meditation is a mind exercises and it certainly takes practice to be able to do it with perfection.
